Christian was born the second son to parents Patricia and
John Matthew in Lake Orion, Michigan, on June 15th in
the early days of the nineteen-sixties.

It was a very turbulent decade, a time of change and revolt.
The Cuban Missile Crisis panicked the nation.  John and
Robert Kennedy were assassinated. The civil rights
movement was in full swing. The Vietnam War began. The
U.S. landed the first manned space mission on the moon.
Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated.

Christian's home life reflected the times. His parents
divorced when he was nine, and he went to live with his
mother in a small, seedy apartment in nearby Pontiac.

A shy, sensitive, and introverted kid, Christian didn't
adjust well to the abrupt changes.  When his mother began
dating a former neighbor man, a man with whom Christian
had never gotten along, he knew that life was about to get
much more difficult.  And it did.

Christian lived a rich inner life, perhaps as a way to escape
the psychological, emotional, and physical abuse that had
become his home life. He loved to draw stories on any
surface he could find, amateur adventures in which the
hero barely managed to escape with his life.  When not
drawing, he read voraciously.

He ran away from home for the first time when he was
eleven.  There were several more attempts, but it wasn't
until his fourteenth year that he got far enough away to
make it work.  Christian made it as far as Colorado on the
eve of his fifteenth birthday, exhausted, starving, and
scared.

Away from his family and on his own for the first time,
Christian thrived.  Though he lived on the streets of
Colorado for nearly two years, it was a time of awakening
to who he really was: a smart and creative young man with
plenty to offer the world around him.  His self-esteem
(which had nearly been destroyed) and his confidence
bloomed.  He found a job at a local health club and at a
night club almost simultaneously. They would pull him in
very different directions; one to greater and greater
heights, the other down the dark and twisted path of
addiction.

Christian lived a life of contradictions for the next decade,
until his body and mind could no longer handle the
demands he placed on them.  In what he describes as a
"spectacular meltdown," Christian shoved everyone away
and went into seclusion. Alone again and worse for the
wear, he rediscovered his first passion: writing.

The written word had always been a release valve for him
when things got rough, but hunkered down in the
darkness of his own mind, he found a certain eloquence
that he could not ignore. After a year of solitude during
which he barely subsisted on meager-paying jobs, the
demons that had tormented him began to leave him alone,
and the storyteller that lived within emerged.

Poetry was his first love, but it soon became too limited,
and he timidly began his first novel, a memoir of the
journey he had barely survived. Though as yet
unpublished, the manuscript took first place in the Pikes
Peak Writers Competition for Creative non-fiction.  So
encouraged, Christian let the floodgates of creativity open.

He has never looked back.

Since then, he has written first drafts of more than 20
novels (three of which have picked up prizes from various
competitions), more than fifty short stories, and six
screenplays.

Having unbound his inner creativity, Christian is no
longer haunted by those long-ago demons. It was a long
and arduous journey, but one that he says he wouldn't
have traded for anything.

He unofficially "divorced" his birth family in 2005 after
several attempted reconciliations, during which time he
realized that some people never change their destructive
ways.  He has gained an incredible new family of his own
choosing since, and is happier than he ever remembers
being.

He has discovered a deep spirituality, and learned on the
way how to listen to the lessons of the universe. Christian
uses these lessons in coaching and mentoring.
